Anglo’s Chile mines normal after quake

[miningmx.com] — ANGLO American’s central Chilean mines are operating normally after a strong quake, Reuters reported on Tuesday, citing a company source.

The biggest mines in Chile, the world’s top copper producer, are located in the northern part of the country.

State-owned copper giant Codelco also said there were no initial reports of problems at the firm’s central Chilean mines.

A stretch of the country’s south-central coastal area was evacuated as a precaution after a strong quake shook the country and swayed buildings as far away as the capital Santiago.
