[miningmx.com] -- ANGLO American's South African coal unit expects its New Largo mine, expected to supply up to 15 million tonnes of coal to utility Eskom to come on stream by 2012-2013, the unit head said on Wednesday.
Ben Magara, CEO of Anglo Coal South Africa, said the new mine will be the main supplier to Eskom's new Kusile power station, expected to come on stream in 2016.
"The New Largo mine is coming through in 2012-2013 ... (the) Kusile power station is currently under construction and the main supplier will be the New Largo colliery supplying 14-15 million tonnes a year," Magara told a mining conference in Johannesburg.
