[miningmx.com] -- ANGLOGOLD Ashanti, Gold Fields and Rand Uranium negotiating at the Chamber of Mines of South Africa under the auspices of the CCMA have improved their wage offer to 9% for entry level employees and 8% for all other employees in the on-going gold sector wage negotiations.
This increment is in addition to other offers with significant cost implications including an increase in the minimum living out allowance to a minimum of R1,300 per month for this year, with a further R100 to be given in 2010, the Chamber of Mines said in a statement.
"We believe that we have made constructive progress in today's negotiations. Our offers take into account the sustainability of the industry as well as the needs of the employees", said Dr Elize Strydom who negotiates on behalf of Gold mining companies.
Harmony Gold has made a separate package of offers to the unions which
includes a bonus linked to the performance of the gold price. A further round of negotiations will take place on Monday 13 July 2009.
