Nogxina tipped for Mexico post

[miningmx.com] — FORMER director-general at the Department of Mineral Resources, Sandile Nogxina, is tipped to be appointed South Africa’s next ambassador to Mexico.

Nogxina is currently a special adviser to Mines Minister Susan Shabangu. Two industry executives and a DMR official have on separate occasions told Miningmx there were rumours doing the rounds about this new role for Nogxina.

Asked on Thursday whether authorities have approached him about the position in Mexico, Nogxina said: “I cannot deny that.’

Nogxina served for 13 years as director-general of the DMR before retiring on June 30 this year. He has been the longest serving DG of any department in South Africa post-1994.
