Lace mine to start production in H2

[miningmx.com] – UK-listed DiamondCorp said production at the Lace Diamond Mine project would begin in the second half of its financial year following a six week strike last year by the Association of Mineworkers & Construction Union.

However, the revised production was still four months ahead of the company’s original plan whilst an improvement in efficiencies identified during the strike would lead to a 15% improvement in development productivity, it said.

DiamondCorp, which owns the Lace Diamond Project in Lesotho through its 74%-controlled Lace Diamond Mines, said the diamond market was currently soft as a result of poor liquidity, but longer term the market had improved prospects.
