[miningmx.com] – AN audit by South African gold producers has shown “little change” in the disputed membership numbers of the Association of Mineworkers and Construction (AMCU), said Reuters citing a spokeswoman for the Chamber of Mines said on Wednesday.
AMCU had said its numbers far exceeded the 30% level claimed by the industry at a time when the gold sector is in wage talks with it and three other unions, said Reuters.
AMCU’s demands are the highest and if it was the majority union, any deal struck with it could be imposed on others, it said.
