Zimbabwe backtracks on indigenisation

[miningmx.com] – ZIMBABWE said that it wasn’t necessary for the country’s banking or services sectors to comply with 51% indigenisation laws as has been the case with the mining sector, according to a report by Fin24.

Quoting comments by Zimbabwe’s Indigenisation Minister Francis Nhema in Zimbabwean newspaper, The Herald, Fin24 said that there was no resource in the banking and services sector that the country owned first.

“if you are going into sections of the service industry like banks, manufacturing and others where there is no resource to begin with then you cannot say 51% is mine,’ Nhema was quoted to have said.
