[miningmx.com] – SOUTH Africa and Lesotho are to spend R15.5bn on a second phase expansion of water supply that will increase volumes from Lesotho to South Africa by 50% in eight years, said Bloomberg News.
Quoting a speech South African president Jacob Zuma is to make today, Bloomberg News reported: “The project represents a win-win mechanism as it provides needed water to South Africa and creates an opportunity for the required infrastructure development and energy generation in Lesotho’.
Water supply is a critical part of the feasibility of mining in South Africa with investors having to wait month for the approval of water use licences.
