Northam Pt’s Lewis slates SA Govt.

[miningmx.com] – NORTHAM Platinum’s outgoing boss, Glyn Lewis, said demands by the South African government on the mining sector were unfair and would lead to its diminishment with a loss of jobs.

Lewis was quoted in BDLive to have said the South African government was responsible for “dysfunctional legislation and an overregulated environment”.

“The consequences are simple. There will be a decrease in mining investment in South Africa and a lower demand for manufactured products that support the industry, with associated consequences such as job losses, declining taxes and declining mineral exports,” Lewis was quoted to have said.
