Zim may soften indigenisation law

[miningmx.com] – ZIMBABWE may soften its indigenisation laws that require foreign investors to part with control of assets they own in the country.

Speaking to Sunday Mail, Zimbabwe information minister, Jonathan Moyo, said indigenisation would be adapted for different sectors. So far, it’s only the platinum sector that has had to comply with the legislation.

“We are reviewing and tightening the indigenisation and empowerment policy by being pragmatic without being dogmatic about it,’ he told the state-owned Sunday Mail.

“(Foreign) investors will be allowed to recover their initial capital investment, an appropriate return on investment and operational costs before the sharing of production outputs or profits,’ Moyo said.
