Rio will fail to launch Guinea project on time

[miningmx.com] – LAMINE Forfana, mines minister for Guinea, said Rio Tinto was unlikely to meet its 2015 start date for the $20bn Simandou iron ore mine, Bloomberg News reported.

Rio Tintop had agreed in 2011 that output would start from the mine within four years.
“The reality is this cannot be respected, that’s why we are really in open discussions with Rio, taking into account the complexity of this project,’ said Forfana.
