Implats MarchQ output slides 4pct

[miningmx.com] — Impala Platinum, the world’s second largest platinum producer, on Monday reported a 4% dip in quarter-on-quarter platinum production to 368 000 ounces due to pipeline movements.

Palladium production rose 26% to 283 000 ounces in the quarter to end March 2010 on the back of the ramp-up of the Phase 1 expansion at Zimplats, additional deliveries of palladium-richer autocatalysts and the continued destocking of material from the refinery.

Rhodium production at 59 000 ounces was flat.

Gross refined platinum production for the nine months to the end of March at 1.26
million ounces remained unchanged compared to the same period a year ago despite
the impact of industrial action and the 14 Shaft incident at the beginning of the current financial year.
