[miningmx.com] -- Impala Platinum, the world's second-largest platinum producer, on Tuesday advised of a work stoppage at the company's Rustenburg operations.
The company said the stoppage involved most underground employees.
"This stoppage occurred despite the union's suspension of its strike notice over the weekend following the agreed wage settlement of a 10% increase to all unionised employees," Implats said in a statement.
"The situation is exacerbated by the fact that no demands have been made of management by the striking workers," the company said.
It noted that the work stoppage appeared to be related to communication between the union and its members.
Both Marula and the company's refining operations were running as normal.
