NUM has 90 days to win back support

[miningmx.com] – THE National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has 90 days to regain majority membership at Lomin’s Marikana mine following a judgement from the Labour Court which said the union could keep its office open until July 16.

The Associated Mineworkers & Construction Union (Amcu) has complained that the NUM had not closed its office despite Amcu habing over 70% membership of miners at Marikana.

The Labour Court ordered that the 90-day period, in terms of the union’s recognition agreement with the company, would run from April 16 to July 16, NUM spokesperson Lesiba Seshoka said in a statement.
