Numsa strike ends with 10% wage deal

[miningmx.com] – THE National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) brought its four-week strike to an end on July 28 after agreeing to a three-year wage deal in which its lowest paid members won increases of up to 10%.

The wage deal also revolves an issue, described by BDLive as “a contentious peace clause”, in which union members will be able to challenge employers over work place disputes.

“The union has . succeeded in negotiating a formulation of the (amendment) which we are confident is legally sound and thus not disadvantageous in any manner, shape or form,’ BDLive quoted Numsa general-secretary Irvin Jim to have said.
