[miningmx.com] – JOSEPH Kabila, president of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has fired Ahmed Kalej Nkand, CEO of the country’s base metals company, Gecamines, said Bloomberg News.
Citing DRC prime minister, Augustin Matata Ponyo, Bloomberg News said the dismissal of Kalej was for mismanagement while another government official said it was related to the “illegal sale” of mining sites.
More specific reasons will become clear once an investigation has been conducted, said Bloomberg News.
