Renamo, Mozi Govt to sign accord

[miningmx.com] – THE government of Mozambique and its main opposition party, Renamo, are due to sign an accord aimed at ending violent clashes in the central province of Sofala, said Bloomberg News.

“No one will be hunted’ or prosecuted for their role in the violence, Agriculture Minister Jose Pacheco, from the government delegation, told the newswire service. A “total agreement” will be signed on July 30.

Outbreaks of violence between Renamo and government forces have occasionally stopped coal exports with Rio Tinto last year temporarily suspending coal freight from its Benga coal mine in Mozambique’s Tete province.
