Corruption is SA’s national sport: Phiri

[miningmx.com] – STEVE Phiri, CEO of Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBPlat) said investment in the South African mining industry would be easier if corruption were not as prevalent in the country.

“Corruption seems to be growing into a national sport,” he was quoted to have said in an article by BDLive. “Those trying to be clean are seen as stupid or obstructive, and they are removed.” Phiri was speaking at the Joburg Indaba conference.

“This industry is crying out to be loved and trusted,” he said.
