Namibia restarts gem talks with De Beers

[miningmx.com] – NAMIBIA had resumed discussions with De Beers over a new sales agreement, said Bloomberg News which cited Namibia’s diamond commissioner and lead negotiator, Kennedy Hamutenya.

“We didn’t finish last year, the Christmas break caught up with us and we are continuing today,’ Hamutenya told Bloomberg News.

Namibia is pushing for a new deal that would allow it to make direct sales of some of the diamonds produced by Namdeb Diamond Corporation, a joint venture with De Beers which is owned by Anglo American.
