SA gold miners gear up for wage talks

[miningmx.com] – SOUTH Africa’s five largest gold producers are making final preparations ahead of what is expected to be a gruelling round of wage talks with unions, perhaps lasting up to five months, said BDLive.

“We are keen to do everything in our power to ensure negotiations are conducted in an environment that will be conducive to us reaching a sustainable agreement,” the chamber’s chief negotiator, Elize Strydom, said on Thursday.

The first plenary session at which unions will table and motivate for their demands is expected from mid-to late-June. Based on past experiences, the meeting should last three or four days, said BDLive.
