Dominion mine has been re-planned and beefed up - Jean Nortier, acting CEO
In an interview on Radio 2000 @ 18:35 on 31 March 2008
[miningmx.com] -- URANIUM One will decide on an permanent CEO later this year as it works to swing its Dominion mine in South Africa around, said acting CEO Jean Nortier.
"We have definitely had some issues at Dominion. The net result of all the issues is that we are delivering on Dominion slower than what we initially anticipated we will do," Nortier said on the Moneyweb Power Hour week-nightly radio programme.
"We anticipate that Dominion will still be a very good project in the Uranium One stable, and the market has been focusing very much on Dominion, and it's been extrapolating that to the rest of our assets, assets that are doing exceptionally well in other parts of the world," he said.
"Dominion has been a confidence problem for us, it definitely created a confidence issue. We have replanned Dominion, we've beefed up the management team, and so we are definitely
going forward on the group," he said.
Nortier replaced Neal Froneman who quit unexpectedly earlier this year as the company released a second unfavourable outlook for the group.
"There is definitely talk about me staying on as permanent CEO. At this stage what we are doing is we are focusing on fixing up the business, making sure that everything that we do is in promoting the business," he said.
"Between the board and me we have a very comfortable relationship, comfortable enough that we are not at this stage talking about whether it's going to be permanent or not. We will have that discussion later on in the year," he said.
