Elands offers to work with Barplats - David Salter, Elands MD

In an interview on Radio 2000 @ 18:00 on Monday, 6 March 2006

[miningmx.com] -- DAVID Salter, MD of Eland Platinum, said that they would be asking platinum company Barplats, the mine next door, if they wanted to be in on the Elands project.

Salter, who previously worked for Barplats but left because of disagreements with the companies controlling partner, Platinum Consortium.

“We will ask them (Barplats) but I think that maybe they won’t be in a controlling position,” said Salter, who was speaking on the week nightly business show, the Moneyweb Power Hour, broadcast on Radio 2000.

Elands mine has a life of 33 years and is set to produce 280 000 ounces a year, said Salter, who hopes to list the company on the 29 March.

The mine will cost R500 million, which Elands Platinum has begun raising.

“We have had interest from strong local institutions, some interest out of London and some from the retail market,” said Salter.
