[miningmx.com] -- Firestone Diamonds said commissioning of the bulk sampling plant at its Tsabong diamond prospect in Botswana was completed in the first quarter and it was hopeful of a significant find.

"Independent data review concludes that Tsabong has a real chance of discovering an economic large sized diamondiferous kimberlite," said the company in a statement.

The company gained new prospecting licences for 4,000 square kilometres in the Orapa and Jwaneng areas in Botswana and said its Bonte Koe toll treatment mining joint venture with De Beers was in full production.

In the six months to the end of December Firestone said its turnover was £1.9m (H1 2007: £0.6m) and it recorded a profit of £2.4m compared to £0.1m in the same half last year.
