[miningmx.com] -- DE BEERS has reduced the number of sightholders (customers allowed to buy gems at its sales) because the company expects it won't have enough diamonds to go around.

Bloomberg News reported said world's biggest seller of rough diamonds has cut the number of customers by 15%.

De Beers "gave 79 customers the exclusive right to buy its diamonds for the next three years," said Bloomberg. The news agency added that that compares with 93 sightholders that were chosen two-and-a-half-years ago.
