Rusal Posted: Wed, 30 Apr 2008 [miningmx.com] -- ALUMINIUM producer Russia's Rusal said it wants to expand in Africa. The company is investing $300m in reopening a mothballed smelter in Nigeria and Bloomberg News cited a Financial Times report saying that Rusal's director of corporate strategy Artem Volynets said: "Rusal was seeking sites for additional smelters and places to mine bauxite". The executive said Libya was being considered as a possible site for another African smelter. Volynets added that Rusal would consider opportunities in other African countries and that the company would be happy to work with Chinese companies which may have resources in Africa.
