Sierra Leone needs $1bn to fight Ebola

[miningmx.com] – SIERRA Leone needs $1bn to cover expenses related to the outbreak of the Ebola virus, said Bloomberg News which cited the west African country’s Finance Minister Kaifala Marah.

This would involve a cut in spending in the country’s budget next year while economic growth would be reduced to between 7% and 8% this year, Marah told the newswire service.

“We are a fragile state,’ he said. “We are crunching the numbers to see what should be done: should we make cuts, should we suspend some development projects. We have no choice,’ Marah said.
