Minister frustrated with Eskom CEO, Matona

[miningmx.com] – Tshediso Matona was suspended as CEO of Eskom after public enterprises minister, Lynne Brown, raised frustrations with them, said Rand Daily Mail citing the minister’s comments on Talk Radio 702.

The minister told the station she raised issues relating to unreliable supply and the dire impact of this on the economy and employment, but had been given “scant” information especially about progress in the Medupi and Kusile power stations.

“I raised all of these issues with the board because I said I really feel that there has be greater oversight from them. The suspension is not punitive, they just wanted unfettered access to the information,” she said.

“You don’t shift from one month to the next. That you are financially liquid and the next month you are not financially liquid.”
