CRG says 5.4m oz available after pumping

[miningmx.com] – SOME 5.4 million ounces of gold have been made available for mining by Central Rand Gold (CRG) following operating of a pumping station that has lowered the level of underground mine water, said BDLive citing the company.

“The lower water table not only increases the life of mine of our assets through having higher- quality reserves and resources, it also provides job opportunities as well as a sustainable acid mine drainage management system,” CRG’s CEO, Johan du Toit, told BDLive.

Resources between 450 metres and 900m below the surface had effectively become sterilised by rising water levels after DRDGold stopped pumping water from its operations, in what is called the Central Rand Basin, said BDLive.
