BHP begins hunt for Kloppers succession

[miningmx.com] – BHP Billiton has set down plans to find a successor to
Marius Kloppers, CEO of the Australian organisation, reported the Financial Times.

Jac Nasser, chairman of BHP Billiton, is reported to have quietly begun the search,
which is estimated could take as long as 12 to 24 months.

In October, Anglo American CEO Cynthia Carroll said she was to step down once a
replacement had been found for her. Alex Vaneslow, the former CFO for BHP Billiton,
is said to be a contender for the job.

BHP Billiton declined to comment specifically on Kloppers, but it told the Financial
Times that succession planning for its CEO and senior management was “. an ongoing
process and one of the most critical tasks of any board’.

The company added: “BHP Billiton’s Board has always ensured that it has a well
integrated, continual succession process in place for our most senior executives.’
