Randgold’s Malian assets operational

[miningmx] — RANDGOLD Resources CEO Mark Bristow said on Wednesday the
company’s operations in Mali were all operating at present, adding that conditions in
the country were returning to normal.

Bristow was speaking from the company’s Loulo complex in that country.

Fuel supplies at Loulo, as well as Gounkoto and Morila have been replenished over the
weekend, while the Bamako airport and borders have reopened for traffic.

“Randgold and other mining companies in Mali had a meeting with representatives of the
Comite National de Redressement de la Democratie et la Restauration de l’État (CNRD-
RE) on Monday at which the CNRD-RE assured them that the situation was under
control and that the State was still functioning,” read a company statement.

“The CNRD-RE representatives also assured them that they were well aware of the
importance of the mining industry to the Malian economy.”

The company said it would continue to engage with the Malian authorities and monitor
the political situation in Mali, as well as the regional and international communities’
reaction to the events in the country.
