Gold Fields resumes Beatrix operations

[miningmx.com] — GOLD Fields has resumed operations at the No.3 shaft of its Beatrix mine, a company spokesperson said on Tuesday.

“Normal operations were resumed last night,” Sven Lunsche told Reuters.

The shaft had been closed following a fatality last week. Lunsche said the company was still checking on how much much production had been lost, adding he was “confident” it would be able to make up the lost production during the quarter.

Meanwhile, Harmony Gold said it had resumed work at its Tshepong mine in after an 8-day halt prompted by an accident that killed a worker.

Harmony said it had lost 20kg to 25kg of production due to the closure.
