Aurora firm provisionally liquidated

[miningmx.com] — A NORTH-WEST transport logistics company said on Monday it was granted a provisional liquidation order against the company through which Aurora Empowerment Systems had managed Pamodzi Gold’s Orkney assets.

Schalk Liebenberg of Nelesco 663 said the company was contracted by Kaunda Global Mining Resources for the transport of gold ore from Aurora’s Orkney mine. Nelesco was claiming around R1.3m from Aurora for unpaid services.

Nelesco’s legal respresentative, Andre van Aswegen of law firm Theron Jordaan Smit in Klerksdorp, said the order was granted by the North Gauteng High Court. The court would decide on November 1 whether to make the order final, Van Aswegen said.

Trade unions Solidarity and NUM are also seeking for the liquidation of Kaunda Global Mining Resources 2, trading as Aurora Gold East Rand, which employed mineworkers at Grootvlei mine on the East Rand.

On May 20, Solidarity served Aurora with a liquidation application of R3.1m on behalf of 42 employees for outstanding wages.
