
[miningmx.com] — XSTRATA is investing R19.5m in the training of engineers at the University of Pretoria, the company said on Wednesday.
The company would sponsor R12m for the construction of an Engineering Study Centre at the university, while R7.5m would be provided over three years for engineering research.
The University of Pretoria is the largest provider of engineering graduates into the South African economy.
”Our funding will facilitate an increased intake of engineering students and will expand the scope of post-graduate studies to encompass cutting-edge development in a range of different engineering disciplines,” read an Xstrata company statement.
