Amplats disciplinary hearings start

[miningmx.com] — ANGLO AMERICAN PLATINUM is holding disciplinary
hearings on Tuesday, saying striking workers who fail to present themselves will be
dismissed.

The company said the attendance rate at its Rustenburg assets remained below 20%,
despite issuing numerous ultimatums to employees since the resumption of work at
those operations on September 18.

“Employees who are on strike have been informed that they must present themselves
at disciplinary hearings, which will take place tomorrow, Tuesday 2 October, to make
representations as to their non-attendance to avoid dismissal,’ read the statement.
“The company will also be left with no alternative but to dismiss, in their absence, all
employees who do not present themselves.’
