Simmers appoints new CFO

[miningmx.com] — Junior gold producer Simmer & Jack Mines on Tuesday announced the appointment of Marius Saaiman as chief financial officer.

The company said the appointment is effective from the beginning of next month.

Saaiman, who is the permanent replacement for interim chief financial officer
Robert Cowley, joins Simmers from Macquarie First South Advisors where he
fulfilled the role of managing director of the Resources Mergers and Acquisitions
team.

Simmers has come through a particularly rocky period and Saaiman joins at a time when the company appears to be getting back on track.

“The Board has made some incisive and tough decisions over the past few months to lay strong foundations for the future … I believe that we are set to build a company intent on the creation of shareholder value,” the 38-year old Saaiman said.

Saaiman studied BCom majoring in accounts and audits at the Rand Afrikaans
University, followed by the completion of an Honours degree in BCom.

He successfully concluded his Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
final exam and is PAAB CA (SA) registered and a member of the South African
Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).

In his most recent role at Macquarie, Saaiman was repsonsible for coverage of the resource sector as well as advising on mergers and acquisitions within this sector.
