Trapped miners rescued from Mimosa fire

[miningmx.com] – AQUARIUS Platinum said trapped mineworkers from
its 50%-owned Mimosa platinum mine in Zimbabwe had been safely evacuated.

“Mimosa (50% owned by Aquarius) wishes to advise that all employees have now
been safely evacuated from the mine. No injuries have been reported,” the company
said in a statement to the JSE.

“Details concerning the extent of damage and impact on production will be made
available in due course,” it added.

The company and its joint venture partner, Impala Platinum, reported on Tuesday
(May 22) that about 60 miners had been trapped underground following an outbreak of
fire at the operation.

Mimosa produced some 104,000 ounces of platinum group metals in its last financial
year.
