Gold One in NUM talks following dismissals

[miningmx.com] — GOLD One International said on Monday it has begun
talks with the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), following the dismissal of
employees who have taken part in an illegal strike at the group’s Modder East mine.

Meanwhile, the company said it has taken measures to ensure the mine remains
profitable.

“Approximately 500 employees have been reporting for work and, together with the
operation’s supervisors, they are conducting limited mining and milling operations,’
read a company statement. “Surface stockpile sources are also being processed.’

The strike action by the Professional Transport Allied Workers Union was interdicted
by the Labour Court on June 4.

NUM is the recognised union at the mine.
