Galaxy eyes JSE debut this year

[miningmx.com] — South Africa’s Galaxy Gold could list in Johannesburg later this year, a spokesperson said on Friday, after the miner failed to make its market debut last year due to uncertainty over its mining rights.

Galaxy, a gold miner and explorer, had planned to raise up to R400m for expansion in a listing on the JSE.

Those plans were shelved after the company was not in possession of required mining rights.

A Galaxy Gold spokesperson told Reuters the listing would now likely be around September, as the company has still to resolve the mining rights issue.

“(There is) unlikely to be any listing before the middle of this year because there are still issues with the Department of Mineral Resources and the JSE,” he said.
