Gold One closes Ezulwini for 30 days

[miningmx.com] — GOLD One International said on Tuesday it would
close its Ezulwini mine for at least a month, citing the rise in intimidation and tension
within the national mining sector as reason.

“The suspension will continue until such time as operations can be safely resumed,’
the company said in a statement. “Only essential services will operate in the interim.’

Gold One last week dismissed 1,417 workers out of a total 1,950 at Ezulwini for
participating in an unprotected strike.

“Ezulwini is a marginal operation and the recent unprotected industrial action has
placed it under considerable economic pressure,’ said CEO Neal Froneman. “We have
taken this decision to suspend our operations at Ezulwini in order to ensure the safety
of our employees and security of assets.’
