Anglo seeks new CEO as Carroll goes

[miningmx] — CYNTHIA Carroll has stepped down as the CEO of Anglo American, the
company announced on Friday, saying she would remain in her role until a successor
has been appointed.

Anglo’s chairman, John Parker, would now commence a process to recruit Carroll’s
successor.

Carroll was appointed to the Anglo American Board in January 2007 and took over
formally as CEO in March of that year.

“It is a very difficult decision to leave, but next year I will be entering my seventh
year as chief executive and I feel that the time will be right to hand over to a
successor who can build further on the strong foundations we have created,’ Carroll
said.

Carroll would also relinquish her role as chairman of both Anglo American Platinum
and De Beers.
