Sandvik predicts metals Q3 weakness

[miningmx.com] — SWEDISH speciality steel and tool maker Sandvik said demand in most markets was still strong, easing concerns about the impact of gobal economc uncertainties, adding it would see some effect from weaker metal prices in the third quarter.

Sandvik has been buoyed by a rapid recovery in demand after being among the hardest hit Swedish engineers during the financial crisis, when it posted multi-billion crown losses.

“Even with the situation around us we see a generally strong market situation. We have not changed our view since the report in July,” CEO, Olof Faxander, said at the company’s capital markets day on Wednesday.
