[miningmx.com] — PLATMIN has suspended mining operations at its Pilanesberg platinum mine, the company said on Friday.
Platmin said this followed illegal disruptions caused by employees of mining contractor MCC on Thursday when the employees intimidated supervisors, engaged in illegal industrial action, and damaged property and equipment.
The miner said it had called in the SA Police Services to safeguard employees, prevent further damage and stabilize the situation.
“Mining operations have been suspended, but processing operations are continuing utilising the mine’s stockpile,” Platmin said.
Platmin also said it was working closely with MCC to resolve matters and would make a further announcement in due course.
