Harmony reports fatality at Moab Khotsong

Moab Khotsong

HARMONY Gold said an employee was killed in a seismic incident at its Moab Khotsong mine near Orkney on Sunday.

The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) is leading an investigation into the incident, Harmony noted in a statement Monday.

All relevant stakeholders had been notified.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss of life. Nothing is more important than the safety of our people,” said Harmony CEO Beyers Nel.

“We are committed to fully understanding the circumstances of this incident, learning from it and strengthening our efforts to prevent a recurrence.”

Harmony said it was providing support to the employee’s family and affected colleagues.

The incident follows six employee deaths at Harmony’s South African mines during the year to end-June 2026.
