Eskom’s Thuthuka not out of the woods

[miningmx.com] – TECHNICAL problems at Eskom’s Thuthuka power station, which was behind load-shedding on January 26, had not been fully resolved and could lead to more power outages, said BDLive.

Some 1,000MW was lost after two units went down, the publication said.

Eskom is operating with only 2,000MW of reserve power – provided by the expensive, diesel-run open cycle gas turbines – which means that any glitches with the existing fleet could result in load-shedding.
