Anthracite market “under pressue”: Petmin

[miningmx.com] – SOUTH African anthracite and thermal coal producer, Petmin, said demand for its thermal coal had been “strong” in the September quarter with sales commitments received for all its 400kt of forecast output for the 2015 financial year.

The anthracite market was under pressure, however. Export prices were some 15% lower than in 2013 and average inland prices reduced by 3%, it said. Commitments for anthracite totalled 1mt of its estimated 1.2mt of production for 2015.

Petmin said it continued to “… evaluate investment opportunities in thermal coal and other projects that meet Petmin’s investment criteria and in particular are reviewing opportunities that are cash producing and or near cash”.
