Anglo, Implats slide down JSE index

[miningmx.com] – ANGLO American had slipped out of the JSE’s top 10 index while other companies, such as Impala Platinum (Implats) and Lonmin were no longer among the top 40 most valuable companies on the exchange, said BDLive.

“The changes reflect the negative sentiment towards resources stocks with erstwhile stalwarts, such as Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) had dropped out of the top 20 altogether,” said BDLive in its report.

“There is still a selling bias with many commodities due to questions about Chinese growth,” said Afrifocus Securities analyst, Cheslyn Francis, who added that a recovery in the mining sector will only occur in three to five years.
