[miningmx.com] – THE National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) represents less than half of all workers at the operations of AngloGold Ashanti and Sibanye Gold, said Bloomberg News which cited figures from the Chamber of Mines.
The NUM represents 47% of staff at AngloGold’s South African operations, with the rival Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) accounting for 35%, said the newswire. At Sibanye, 44% of workers were with the NUM and 38% with the AMCU.
The NUM represents two-thirds of staff at Harmony Gold and the AMCU 15%.
