[miningmx.com] – ESKOM will borrow from the newly created Brics development bank when it is fully operational, said BDLive citing Brian Molefe, acting CEO of the utility.
“We did not get a tariff increase, so fortunately we have other avenues where we can raise capital — and the new development bank is certainly one,’ Molefe said on the sidelines of the summit of Brazil, Russia, India, China and SA in Ufa, Russia.
The National Energy Regulator of SA (Nersa) last month denied Eskom’s application for further electricity tariff hikes. The price for power had already increased by 12.7% in April, said BDLive.
