Metorex raises Q3 copper output

[miningmx.com] — DIVERSIFIED mining group METOREX LIMITED on Friday reported a 13% increase in September quarter copper production.

The company said copper production for the three months to end September grew to 13 959 tons from 12 331 tons in the three months to end June 2010.

Cobalt production was up 36% to 1 074 tons for the quarter from 791 tons in June.

Copper and cobalt production at its core Ruashi operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) increased by 18% and 37% respectively.

“Operational improvements and project development continue to make good
progress at Metorex,” said Metorex chief executive officer Terence Goodlace.

Goodlace said production increases at Ruashi would have been higher if it were not for DRC power interruptions at the end of the quarter.
