Petersen replaces Oppenheimer at De Beers SA

[miningmx.com] — DIAMOND producer De Beers Group announced that Barend Petersen would take over from Nicky Oppenheimer as executive chairman of the company’s South African mining operation De Beers Consolidated Mines (DBCM).

Oppenheimer, who served as chairman for 12 years, will continue to sit on the Board of DBCM and serve as chairman of the wider De Beers Group.

Petersen, a director of DBCM since 2002, has been serving as the acting-CEO of DBCM.

De Beers said Philip Barton, DBCM finance director, would become CEO of
DBCM.
